It Isn't All About the Millennials: Navigating the Four Generation Workplace
Presented By:  Jenna Fredette, MD and Jon McGhee, DO M.Ed

For the first time in US history four generations are represented in the workplace. Much attention has been given to the millennial generation, but for companies to be successful today, leaders need to understand and focus on the interplay of all four generations and how this impacts communication and the creation of effective teams.  This session will describe all four generations in the workplace (Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Generation Y) while exploring the social and environmental factors that have created certain generational characteristics.  We will also explore the generational differences in professional identity, work-life balance, and communication styles that can lead to conflict and discordance in the workplace while discussing how an understanding these factors can help create more effective and efficient teams.

About Our Speakers:  Jenna M. Fredette, MD and Jon McGhee, DO M.Ed. are Emergency Medicine (EM) physicians at Christiana Care in Newark, DE.  Dr. Fredette received her medical degree from the University of Buffalo and completed her EM residency at University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. McGhee received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his EM residency at Christiana Care.  Drs. Fredette and McGhee are Clinical Assistant Professors at Thomas Jefferson University.  In addition to seeing patients on a daily basis, they both are part of a leadership team that is responsible for training and educating residents in emergency medicine, researching and advancing knowledge in the areas of curriculum development and feedback delivery, and further educating faculty and leadership in the rapidly evolving world of medical education.  Mastering generational divides is not only an area of research interest for them but is also daily occurrence in both their professional and personal lives!
